Tucson's Santa Catalina Mountains

The Santa Catalina Mountain Range rings the East side of Tucson, Arizona, and adds unparalleled beauty to the area. "The Catalinas" boasts the highest peak in the region at Mt. Lemmon.  Mountain recreational activities are abundant including, but not limited to, skiing & snowboarding on Mt. Lemmon, hiking, camping, climbing, biking, and many other fun outdoor activities.

The entire greater Tucson, Arizona area is ringed by mountains.  The Tucson Mountains are on the West side and boast Saguaro National Park West, The Tortolita Mountains are located to the North in Marana, Arizona, and the majestic Santa Catalina Mountain Range is located to the East / Northeast.  "The Foothills" is a wonderful, high-end Tucson area that is located in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains.  You can find "The Foothills" under the Cities Tab / Tucson / Foothills neighborhood on the website to check out homes for sale there and market info and reports.

The Santa Catalina Mountains offer Sabino Canyon Recreation Area.  This is a "Foothills" gem that folks come from all over to hike and play at.  The canyon is breathtaking, trails are everywhere, and there are even pools of water that are swimmable throughout various times of the year.  Pima Canyon Trailhead Recreation Area is also a fabulous place to enjoy the majestic Catalinas.  Wildlife is abundant, so bring your camera!  Finger Rock Trailhead is another great spot to enjoy hiking and other outdoor recreation activities.  All of this is located a short, 30-minute drive from downtown Tucson, Arizona.

Mt. Lemmon is the highest peak in The Santa Catalina Mountains at over 9100 ft elevation!  It's a completely different biome on top of the mountain filled with trees and streams and wildlife galore.  Campsites are located all over the mountain.  There's even a ski resort at the top of Mt. Lemmon.  The scenic drive up Catalina Highway from the city is one of the most scenic drives I've ever taken.

The greater Tucson, Arizona area including Marana, Arizona, Oro Valley, Arizona, Catalina, Arizona, Sahuarita, Arizona, and Green Valley, Arizona enjoy abundant recreational activities all year long.  The Sonoran Desert setting is incredibly beautiful and the mountains ringing the entire area add another biome to the greater area and many more activities to enjoy.  Plus, the mountains are simply beautiful!
