Town Of Oro Valley, Arizona Teeming With Amenities
Oro Valley, Arizona is a very nice, northern suburb of Tucson, Arizona. It's located about 25-40 minutes from downtown Tucson and The University of Arizona. Oro Valley is known for its fabulous setting against the backdrop of The Santa Catalina Mountains, wonderful amenities, lovely homes in a wide price range, friendly people, golf courses, and a fantastic parks and recreation department.
Oro Valley was incorporated in 1974. It's beautifully nestled between The Santa Catalina Mountains to the East and The Tortolita Mountain Range to the North. The town sits at an elevation of almost 2700 feet above sea level and works its way up in elevation as it climbs into the foothills of the mountains.
Many of the housing communities throughout Oro Valley enjoy wide streets, walking and biking paths, pocket parks, and proximity to golf courses and Oro Valley Parks and Recreation facilities.

Aquatic Center – The Aquatic Center is a great place for family fun, exercise, and a pleasant day outside. It sits in the middle of a large park with trees and grass. The pool is huge and includes a splash pad for children, a water slide, and competition-level amenities. Swim lessons are available as are hours when the pool or a portion of the pool is devoted to swimming training. Check this facility out. It's really awesome!

Community and Recreation Center – The Oro Valley Community and Recreation Center is located in the heart of Oro Valley. It's a tremendous asset to the community, and residents love it and use it regularly. It's very well-kept. There are hundreds of fitness classes every month as well as cardio and strength training equipment. Raquetball, pickleball, tennis, and a lovely swimming pool are all available. There are two 18-hole golf courses on the premises as well as a driving range. To top it off, there's a full-service restaurant and bar, a golf shop, and a meeting room for rent. This is a great place to work out, have fun, meet people, and enjoy oneself. Highly recommended!

Archery Range – Yes, Oro Valley has its own archery range! Wow! What a fun way to spend some time, practice your art, or try something new. It offers a fixed and a walking course.

Riverfront Park – Located in the heart of Oro Valley, La Canada/Riverfront Park is a great area to relax or play. There are tennis and basketball courts, walking trails, playground equipment, and even an equestrian staging area!

Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve – Check out the natural beauty of The Sonoran Desert within this preserve. There's a wide, concrete path that meanders throughout the preserve for walking, running, and/or biking. The views of The Santa Catalina Mountains and The Tortolita Mountains are astounding.

Canada Del Oro Shared Use Path – This paved path along the Canada Del Oro wash is suitable for many recreational activities. Go check it out!

James D. Kriegh Park – This lovely park boasts a doggy park! There are ball fields, a playground, and racquetball courts too. Shaded areas are great to converse and enjoy a snack. My dogs love it here.

West Lambert Lane Park – Introduce yourself to The Sonoran Desert at West Lambert Lane Park. Dogs are allowed. This is a great area to stroll along, explore the paths into the desert, take pictures, and have a leisurely or vigorous walk/run.
Oro Valley Parks and Recreation offers even more wonderful facilities, parks, and paths to enjoy.
There are many other recreational activities in the town of Oro Valley that are not a part of Oro Valley Parks and Recreation. As mentioned, The Santa Catalina Mountains offer hiking and excursions galore. Catalina State Park is located in Oro Valley. Horseback riding and camping are allowed. One can follow paths all the way up to Mount Lemmon which is our highest peak at 9200 feet above sea level.
